I must say, I am deeply disappointed in all of them.

Especially WhatCS and Rakiru...both of those guys were extremely nice, and contributed quite a bit to discussions.

It is a shame, but a hardline stance is the only way to stop such a ridiculously stupid activity.

He pushed a button that's meant to be a useless bit of fluff...instead they organized and turned it into a useless bit of organized stupidity...a way to put people down who don't necessarily see it as a stupid button, but as some sort of compass to how good someone's posting is.

So yes, I think they deserve the punishment...it would be the same thing if they all created a pact to just flame a person in every thread they posted in...

Im wrong? Did I even make a statement? But yes, what they did was stupid, and yes it is flaming if it comes to the point where a person is downrepped every thread he posts in, it is bullying and of course wrong.
A temporary ban would have been enough, or mabey not, but some sort of warning should have been made.  
But hey, atleast you threw some kind of insult at me, good job for that.

Anyway, my thoughts and feelings on this, summed up:

• I don't really care about my de-ranking other than the loss of lounge.
  
• There wasn't really any rep abuse other than down-repping CP, but that was one post, so isn't really rep abuse as that's what the system is for (and I upvoted that post and told the guys on mumble that they probably shouldn't do it "just because").
  
• Retrospective bans are bad, especially when Krysk has said before on vent, (paraphrasing): "I don't care about the rep system, as long as people don't make new accounts to do it.", which brought up the suggestion of not letting people with <X posts give/take rep.
  
• Edit: Ok, I was pointed to a screenshot from the private section of that other forum, where I made a thread to organise rep-fuck, but that was mainly to organise the forums (there were some other "this guy's a prick" threads), and I did post in it also, but that was mainly a place to vent about people. Also, having a post about it != doing it.
  
• Edit 2: I'm confused about why who was banned.

If I were in their place I could see the fun in planning such a thing, you have to take in consideration that they could have done it for the reactions just like any griefing. I also think the reason that they decided to do such a community breaking act, was because it's been clearly stated several times up to now that no one should care about the reputation as it is up to the individual to decide what rep means and when people deserve a vote.

With that in mind, I still do believe the act of abusing the system to make votes in masses is unacceptable, I do not know what they've done, but if they've given themselves more votes or in any other form bypassed limits, then it's clear to me that a permanent ban to the site is in place, as such behavior may encourage to even worse behavior if a weak or no punishment has been given.

If however they haven't bypassed anything and simply shown their opinion to the posts via. the reputation system, then I myself wouldn't have considered it an abusive act.

That they are now banned will hurt the activity on the forums as they've all been contributing to discussions in quantity.

Nobody takes the rep system seriously. I've heard that from just about every admin and moderator that has been asked about the subject.

They just organized a reprape group to downrep people. That hardly warrants a weekban, let alone a permanent one. I do not know these people, nor do I have a reason to get them back here, but I'm calling bullshit on this one. Krysk, I'm asking you to reconsider your decision, because I think the current solution is way too harsh. Unless their actions managed to cause some kind of severe harm, their bans should be shortened drastically.
