I haven't found any confirmation of a release date. I found a thread on the Minecraft forums with similar dates mentioned, but it was only an estimate.
Can you tell us where you got this information?

I believe that Notch gave up development of Minecraft to work on "other projects" like

0x10c.

Tripwires are looking really cool. I'm going to have a lot of fun with those. NPC's not being useless is a plus, but playing around with tripwires is what I'm lookIng forward to the most.
