Couple people that go to my high school did almost die in a car crash because they where being stupid. Best part was that after the crash they found an un-opened bottle of alcohol in the car, not one of those girls where over 21.

In response to OP, kids just being kids as usual, but parents not doing anything to actually parent. So basically, kids act worse as they're not being told to stop bad behaviors.
You could blame the economy for needing both parents to work and having less time to supervise them, but that's not always the scenario.
No matter what the case, kids need role models, or someone to help them behave properly.
Kids raising themselves with parents giving in to them clearly isn't working...
(At least not all kids/teens are acting like retards/assholes, yet...)

I grew up in the early 2000s and let me tell you, people would say the exact same things you guys are saying, we would cuss all day and night, get on our cellphones (back when they were the indestructible nokias) and talk for hours (which drove our parents crazy because they couldnt listen into our conversations from the wired home phone) we'd listen to music with suggestive lyrics on our portable cd players, and play grand theft auto on the ps2.

when I became a teenager almost nothing changed except for the technology we'd use, and drugs lots of drugs

I don't mind sex at 16 in my opinion there is a certain risk to it that would never make me want to have sex until I could be prepared for whatever "accidents" that could occur. But in fifth grade!? That I think is stepping the boundaries a little. At 5th grade kids are no where near mature enough to make decisions like having sex.

16 isn't classed as under-aged if you do it with another 16 or 17 year old (at least it isn't in Australia)

Welcome to Chicago! You think you've heard it all until you come over here to the west side! Everyday on the radio is about how 14-17 year old kid(s) is either shot or shooting someone. So yes location does matter.
