I remember sitting in the original mumble and going "I can't understand a single word of what's happening here, even when people aren't talking over each other"
It happens in the new Avolition mumble as well, and it happened in Vent.
VOIP is just pretty shit in general until everyone involved has high quality mics and gigabit ethernet...which isn't going to happen anytime soon
FAKE EDIT: It would also help for every user to own a set of high quality desk speakers, a studio quality headset, and only use the program in acoustically balanced rooms.
It's not a matter of one sounding better than the other...it's a matter of the quality from the client end
